ADS Abstract Service

Searchable abstracts in astronomy/astrophysics and geophysics from journals, conference proceedings, NASA reports, and dissertations. Includes scanned images of full-text articles from major astronomical journals.

ARIBIB (1983-2000)

Bibliographical database for astronomical references; includes all citations from Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts, without the abstracts. (DTM and GL use only.)

ArXiv (1991-present)

Searchable electronic archive and preprint distribution server for physics and astrophysics research papers. Formerly known as xxx.lanl.gov .

Britannica Online

Electronic version of the Encyclopaedia Britannica. (DTM and GL use only.)

GeoRef (1693-present)

Index to worldwide earth sciences literature, containing references from over 3,000 journals and to books, maps, conference proceedings, and dissertations. Updated every two weeks. (DTM and GL use only.)

GeoRef Preview Database

Access to most recent geoscience references, in preparation for inclusion in GeoRef. Note: these records are still in various stages of editing and may not yet have been indexed. Updated weekly.

Google Scholar

Easy way to search for scholarly material on the web: articles, preprints, conference proceedings, technical reports, theses, etc. All disciplines.

IngentaConnect

Database providing title and author searches of papers in 20,000 periodicals, plus browsable tables of contents. All subjects are covered, not only the sciences. Updated daily.

Inorganic Crystal Structure Database (ICSD)

Search for space group, atomic position, and unit cell data for over 100,000 compounds. Includes extensive searching capabilities and visualization options.

MEDLINE (1950-present)

References and abstracts from 4600 international biomedical journals. Covers not only biomedical research but also environmental science, marine biology, plant and animal science, as well as biophysics and biochemistry.

MetBase

Meteorite information database, containing descriptions of every known meteorite, chemical analyses, noble gas isotopes, cosmogenic radionuclides, and repositories of material and prepared sections. Includes more than 90,000 literature references. Available for searching only in the library (Abelson Building).

MSDS/HazCom Library

Complete collection of Material Safety Data Sheets, lists of hazardous substances, OSHA regulations and checklists, and emergency response guide. Available for searching on public workstations in the library (Abelson Building), Research Building, and Cyclotron Building.

Scirus

Science-specific search engine, providing links to web sites and online journal articles (primarily Elsevier Science publications).

SPIN/Scitation

Provides current indexing and abstracting of more than 80 major American and Russian physics, astronomy, and geophysics journals. Updated daily. (DTM and GL use only.)

Web of Science (1900-present)

Online version of the Science Citation Index. Search for papers in more than 6000 journals in 150 disciplines. Find out where each paper has been cited and follow citation links backward and forward in time. Set up personal research alerts. Export references directly to EndNote Web. (DTM and GL use only.)

WorldCat

Search for books, journals, videos, CDs, maps, etc. held by 10,000 libraries worldwide.
